Warid: The open ancestor of Anis.
Arabic dictation on the desktop, with the source in the open.
Warid is an open-source desktop voice-to-text app. It is built on Tauri and React so it stays light and close to the system instead of carrying a whole browser around in the background, with Gemini doing the understanding.
Open source is not a footnote here. The code is readable and anyone can build on it, which is exactly what made it a good place to experiment before the work closed into a product.
Warid is the open ancestor of Anis. The line that started here, on the desktop and in Arabic, is the same line that ended in the first ADAMAX product.
- Role: Design and development · Open source
- Stack: Tauri · React · Gemini
- Outcome: An open-source Arabic dictation app, and the technical groundwork that later evolved into Anis.
