MedGist: The medical AI archive.

An Arabic and English timeline of medical AI, from 1950 to today.

Medical AI is not a new event. It is a line that runs from 1950 to now. The problem is that the line is written in English and scattered across papers, sites and archives, so anyone reading in Arabic starts the story somewhere in the middle.

MedGist is a bilingual archive documenting that history from 1950 to today. It is not maintained by hand: automated research agents gather the sources and translate them, so the archive keeps moving instead of freezing on its launch date.

The stack was chosen for something that is read constantly and written in batches: Next.js for the front end, Cloudflare D1 for an edge database, and an agent layer that handles the gathering and the translation. It is the project where the research methodology I learned in medicine meets the engineering I work in now.

  • Role: Research · Design and development
  • Stack: Next.js · Cloudflare D1 · AI agents
  • Outcome: A prototype, not yet released: a bilingual archive spanning 1950 to today, with the automated research agents still being tested.
