# Lecture Maker: install instructions for AI agents

The person you are helping wants to install the Lecture Maker plugin for Claude.
It makes a lecture as one animated HTML file, step by step with them.
Made by Dr. Mohamed Maslooh (https://maslooh.com). Open source, MIT licence.

- Marketplace (GitHub repo): https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker
- Marketplace name: maslooh
- Plugin: lecture-maker@maslooh
- Current version: 1.1.0 (always current at https://maslooh.com/skills/lecture-maker/version.txt)

Use the first path below that you can actually do. Only install because the
person asked you to.

## A. You are Claude Code (you can run shell commands)

1. Add the marketplace with the FULL https URL (not the owner/repo shorthand,
   which clones over SSH and fails on machines without GitHub SSH keys):

       claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker

2. Install the plugin:

       claude plugin install lecture-maker@maslooh

3. Confirm it is there: lecture-maker@maslooh, Version 1.1.0, enabled.

       claude plugin list

4. Turn on automatic updates. Step 1 wrote an entry for "maslooh" under
   "extraKnownMarketplaces" in ~/.claude/settings.json. Add "autoUpdate": true
   to that entry. Merge it in: keep every other key in the file as it is.
   The entry should end up like this:

       "extraKnownMarketplaces": {
         "maslooh": {
           "source": {
             "source": "git",
             "url": "https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker.git"
           },
           "autoUpdate": true
         }
       }

5. If step 1 fails with an SSH or "host key" error, set this environment
   variable and run step 1 again:

       bash: CLAUDE_CODE_PLUGIN_PREFER_HTTPS=1 claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker
       PowerShell:  $env:CLAUDE_CODE_PLUGIN_PREFER_HTTPS = "1"; claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker

6. Tell the person it is installed and that they must open a NEW session:
   the skill loads in new sessions only.

## B. You are Claude in Chrome (the person uses the Claude app or claude.ai)

1. Open https://claude.ai and go to Customize > Plugins.
2. Press Add > Add marketplace > Add from a repository.
3. Paste https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker and press Sync.
   Leave "Sync automatically" on (it is on by default), so new versions
   arrive by themselves.
4. Find Lecture Maker in the list and press Install.
   Claude shows a warning that this is a third-party plugin. That is expected:
   it is not made by Anthropic. It comes from the public GitHub repo above.
5. Tell the person it is installed and that the skill appears in a NEW chat.

## C. You can do neither

Tell the person these 2 steps:

1. In Claude, go to Customize > Plugins > Add marketplace, paste
   https://github.com/MohamedMaslooh/lecture-maker and press Sync.
2. Install Lecture Maker, then open a new chat.

## Fallbacks

- No plugins: download https://maslooh.com/skills/lecture-maker/lecture-maker.zip
  (do not unzip it). In Claude: Settings > Capabilities, turn on "Code execution
  and file creation". Then Customize > Skills > + > Create skill > Upload a skill,
  and choose the ZIP. The ZIP does NOT update itself: when version.txt shows a
  newer version, download it again and re-upload it under Customize > Skills.
- Claude Code without the plugin: unzip the ZIP and copy the lecture-maker folder
  into ~/.claude/skills/.
- Free ChatGPT or Gemini: use the portable version. Paste
  https://maslooh.com/skills/lecture-maker/lecture-maker-portable.txt into a
  ChatGPT project's instructions or a Gemini Gem, and upload
  https://maslooh.com/skills/lecture-maker/house-starter.html if files are allowed.

## After installing

Open a new chat and just talk, for example: "Make me a lecture on how to present
a paper at journal club, about twenty minutes." Nothing is built until the
person says "go".
